Something I never thought would happen has finally happened. I bought a motorcycle. The seller was listing it as a "Yamaha Enduro 175". It was sold as a parts bike because it is not currently running. When I went to check it out I could see that it was about 95% complete, as far as parts go. I haggled him down to $100 flat. When I got it home I started doing some researche and learned that it's actually an AT1C, 125cc. These bikes are interesting because they have both kick and electric start.
I was told from the seller the main problem is the electrics. It seems someone did their own wiring job. I'm hoping to rip it all out and try to just get it running with the kick start. I haven't even had time to test the compression yet. My goal is to get the engine to idle by the end of the summer. Once I do this I can tear it all down and start making it look nice.
I have just come across one myself but I find that with out a battery hooked up it will not fire. I also am coming across where it is not wanting to run after a complete carb clean. I had gutted exhaust and it starts and runs with throttle applied but still will not idle or run with choke off. I know there is nothing in those jets and its clean and ran wires through jets 4 different times but still having issue. If anyone knows where to get a free manual online please let me know. thanks
ReplyDeleteHey! I have a lot of good info and knowledge on the bike now. Without a battery these bikes will NEVER start. The bike has a fairly complex electrical/starting system and needs a fully charged battery to start.
ReplyDeleteAs for not running at idle it sounds like it is starved for fuel.. Really, I can't think of anything other than the carb. Hard to tell without seeing it.
As for literature I have several manuals on my computer. Email me weston_sagle@hotmail.com and I can send them over. Good luck.
